We would like to introduce ourselves, we are John and Terry Rouse, who thirteen years ago retired to the beautiful Dordogne from Chichester in West Sussex.
We were lucky enough to find a lovely old Perigordine stone farmhouse with a separate gite in the peaceful hamlet of Chaumont.

The stone gite dates from the early 19th century and sits in its own private garden with beautiful views of fields and walnut groves, which lead down to extensive woodlands.
The garden has matured over the last twelve years, and has several fruit trees, flower beds and a rockery. There is a pergola which has been provided to shade our guests from the sun, this has been furnished with a table and chairs for outdoor dining and sun loungers for your comfort and relaxation. We also provide a barbecue for the use of our guests and there are other areas for you to sit and enjoy the views and the gorgeous sunsets.

The Gite's Living Area

The gite retains many original features with oak beams, several knooks and crannies and a pise floor which is a typical feature of many old perigordine farmhouses. There is also a wood burner for the cooler months. The large living area has a charming ambiance and has been decorated in a sympathetic style. The kitchen area has a gas cooker, fridge with small freezer and a microwave. We have tried to provide you with a 'home from home' and have selected crockery and utensils to achieve this. There is a washing machine for your use in the main house and there are several storage cupboards.

There is a comfy and cosy area with a sofa, chair and sidetables for relaxation, and a separate dining area with table and chairs. There is a bookcase with a variety of books and also a selection of videos with a TV for playing them. We also have games, a radio and CD player. There are french doors leading onto the garden which you can fling open on a lovely summers day.
During the war years, evacuees from the Alsace stayed in the gite and there is a remembrance of this on the wall.

The Gite's Bedroom

There is a very large bedroom with french doors leading onto the garden, with a stylish iron double bed and side tables and lamps. Within the bedroom there is a pine wardrobe and chest of drawers. In the corner is a sofa which can be converted into another double bed. The bedroom has an en-suite shower room. We have decorated these rooms in the traditional colours of the area, and added some little touches for your comfort. All household linen for the gite is provided and is of a high quality and is replaced on request.
