Romantic 19th century stone gite in the peaceful hamlet of Chaumont, on a hilltop above the medieval village of Ajat. Set in beautiful countryside and within easy reach of the medieval towns of Sarlat, Perigueux and Montignac and the many world famous prehistoric sites.

While away the hours at the numerous day and night markets. The Dordogne hosts an array of cultural events during the Summer months, and previous guests have enjoyed visiting music festivals, art and craft exhibitions and 'vide greniers' (bric a brac sales).

The local medieval village of Ajat, a five minute walk away, has a bar in the old school house. The proprietor is very friendly and welcoming. Ajat has a swimming pool set in a lovely location with picnic area, it opens in July and August, and also has a tennis court. In the local vicinity there are two 'plan d'eau', which are lakes for swimming, both with bars, one of which has an outdoor restaurant which hosts a variety of 'live' music events.

The Perigordine cuisine is world renowned and we are well served locally by restaurants, cafes and bars, ranging from the simple to gastronomic.

The gite has a charming ambiance with many original features, including a traditional Perigordine pise floor and oak beams. There is a large comfortably furnished living area with a wood burning stove and a very large bedroom with en-suite shower room. Relax on your sun loungers in the gite's secluded garden with views of open fields and walnut groves. Stroll down for an early evening walk through the local woods to complete a wonderful day.
